The Gibson Girl Review is the brain-child of author and historian Amy Drown, an avid researcher and lifelong lover of all things antique. These two passions merged into the curation of an extensive personal library, as Amy’s writing research led her to seek out antique, often obscure novels as primary source material for her own stories. The brilliant historical details uncovered in these books, combined with the sheer volume of available stories waiting to be rediscovered and read anew, inspired Amy to develop a platform through which to share these old books with other readers and writers.
Thus The Gibson Girl Review was born.
In each episode, we review and discuss a forgotten novel from the Gilded Age and Progressive Era (1870-1920), exploring not only how fiction can reveal a great deal of historical fact, but also how entertaining—and relevant—these stories still are today.
